Things to Know

This workshop involves learning traditional rhythms, songs, and movements in a group setting. The experience is designed to be accessible to all skill levels and physical abilities—movements can be adapted as needed. Participants should be comfortable with group activities, singing, and basic movement. All drums and materials for creating your own drum are provided. You should wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement and bring water. The workshop includes learning traditional songs, rhythms, and dance movements, culminating in a group performance and sharing circle. The workshop moves at a relaxed pace with breaks for learning, questions, and cultural storytelling. Your drum will be ready to take home at the end of the experience. Because this workshop involves sacred cultural practices, traditional songs, and spiritual elements, participants are asked to be respectful, mindful, and open to learning from cultural practitioners who share their knowledge and the spiritual significance of each element. Workshops may be adjusted based on group size or material availability.
